Joey Garlics
Very happy with our experience at Mulberry Street pizza, we decided to give Joey Garlics, another Manchester-based, Hawaiian-pizza-serving establishment, a shot. Rather than ham, Joey Garlics opted for a pleasantly salty bacon. Unfortunately, during the cooking process a significant portion of the pieces fried too much and became crumbly which kind of sucked. The crust was very very chewy and a little tough. Abby liked this because she of course loves a good chew but Bartek found that it just slowed him down. This is probably for best as it prevented him from outright inhaling the whole thing. The pineapple was very subtle in flavor and so were the red roasted peppers which is unfortunate given how great of an addition they can be to a Hawaiian pizza. Now despite the many underwhelming qualities of the pizza, we were both very satisfied with it overall. What Joey Garlics lacked in their proficiency of specialty toppings, they made up for it with their mastery of the sauce to cheese ratio. The mozzarella and Romano blend was met with a perfect amount of sauce to deliver a formidable cheese pizza experience that was supplemented by weak, but serviceable, Hawaiian flavors. This was essentially a flavor blasted cheese pizza, which we couldn’t be mad at.
