Overview

Context

• extremely cold morning at silver sands state park, stayed in the car a lot
• drove out to have breakfast and see the sunrise
• came up with new vision / direction for hawaiianpizza.club
• tried parting the sea and walking out to the island but the tide was still to high
• rewarded ourselves with pizza lunch

Crust

• first impression of the pizza: damn that’s a good crust, Abby said, “That’s the best crust I’ve ever had!”
• beautiful color (nice deep golden brown), charred taste
• slight, really crispy, bite force: not like ny style crisp which is like a cracker but more like a pita chip

Sauce

• The sauce was not the base of the pizza, but splashed on top
• splashes of sauce made pizza very refreshing, unlike many white pies we’ve had

Mozzarella

• good amount, good

Baked Ham

• was indeed a baked ham, nostalgic like the ham on xmas dinner
• irregular shapes (shards, chunks, slices)
• not salty, wish it was more salty

Pineapple

• sweet and canned, some hard pieces unfortunately

Italian Sweet Picked Peppers

• the menu just said roasted peppers, but these were a little vinegary
• red and green
• Abby said they were a little bitter, Bartek said they were sweet
• big contributor to italian flavor

Miscellaneous Toppings

• garlic
• and
• herbs
• (basil for sure, maybe oregano): they were there, fine

Veggie Alternative: Black Olives

• No comment

Additional Thoughts

• Bartek appreciates that they have Hawaiian on their menu even though it’s not typical for the area (we’re in “purist pizza” zone)
• Love that pizza place is in train station
• This is a white pizza so the cheese melts and sticks to bread like a cheesy garlic bread
• Poor topping distribution (toppings weren’t on all slices) but when stars align, very delicious
• Needs to be saltier, really good pizza but the Italian flavor overwhelmed the Hawaiian
