Dinner after excellent visit to the Pinakothek der Modern
Recommended through reddit, saw a post: Wanted to share with y’all the best Hawaiian pizza I ever had in the heart of Munich, Germany and then DM’d the guy to find out the exact place. Very nice guy by the way and we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt - a pandemic took place in the 3 years since they were there so perhaps things have changed
Crust
thinnest crust of all time
We were given a fork and knife prior and thought “pshh guess we have to eat like Europeans now” and then it turned out it’s impossible to eat it without a fork and knife because it’s so fucking thin
could have been 4-5 times as thick and it’d still qualify as thin crust pizza
About half the thickness of a lasagna sheet
it felt like they thought of a crazy way to just cook the cheese directly to create a film that holds the rest of the pizza together
Sauce
an even thinner layer than the crust, couldn’t taste it at all
Mozzarella
tasty, really good
if you’re about 10 years old or are an absolute cheese head this may the best pizza ever
proportionally, way too much
so much so that our pee smelled liked cheese
95% of this pizza’s flavor was cheese
Ham
meaty, not very salty
pretty good
Pineapple
Very little of it, but that’s for the best because it was terrible
Veggie Alternative: Black Olives
Very subtle sweetness mixed with miscellaneous vegetable flavor (onion and peppers primarily)
okay
Additional Thoughts
Due to the crust / cheese imbalance, we were constantly looking forward to the edges (cornicione) of the crust. It was our favorite part but that’s not necessarily because it tasted good (it was decent) but rather we were desperate for a break from the cheese
